Sustain Krete™

New at CSH!

With Sustain Krete

Untreated

If left untreated, concrete will absorb water into its pore network. When this water freezes, it expands within the concrete and causes damage from the inside out. Sustain Krete is a soy-based sealant that is absorbed into the pores near the concrete's surface, creating a hydrophobic barrier which blocks water and salt. Perfect for major highway projects, bridge construction and other large-scale roadway infrastructure applications - this new penetrating concrete sealer can provide 7 to 10 years worth of protection against water, salt and the freeze-thaw damage. Even already damaged concrete will benefit. Made in the USA! This soy-based, penetrating concrete sealer is the result of a partnership between Purdue University and the Indiana Soybean Alliance. Purdue applied its legendary reputation for scientific excellence to cre- ating a superior sealer from Indiana-grown soybeans. The result is a concrete sealer that was born and manufactured in the Midwest and provides superior protection against the harsh weather conditions found throughout the country.

Additional Information:

• One gallon covers two coats (applied one hour apart) for 130 square feet. • Penetrates into concrete to protect your pavement, driveway, sidewalk, patio, steps, blocks and more • Can block water and salt for 7 to 10 years with one application • Durable protection - even for already-damaged concrete • Environmentally friendly - no VOCs, it's biodegradable and non-toxic • Requires no breathing or skin protection during application • Paint it on with a roller or brush, or spray it on using a pressure sprayer • Remains fluid allowing absorption through concrete pores • Dry in as little as six hours (may be slick for up to 24 hours)

How Does Concrete Set?

n

After Concrete is placed, it begins to set. As the concrete reacts with water, it provides strength to the concrete, but reduces the overall volume and results in pores throughout, similar to a sponge.

Sustain Krete™

What Causes Concrete Deterioration?

Fluid Absorption The dry pore network within the concrete absorbs any available fluids

Freezing and Thawing Water in the pores freezes and expands, creating pressure and small fractures throughout the pores

Salt Crystallization Water often brings in salt from the concrete's surface. When the water evaporates, salt is left behind. This salt crystallizes in the pores and creates internal pressure, which is another cause of cracking and deterioration. Sustain Krete These problems can be prevented by applying Sustain Krete. It remains fluid, allowing it to enter the pores in the concrete and block out water and salt.
